How does CrimeReports.com differ from CrimeMapper and CrimeStats
Two other sources of crime statistics on the Police Bureau's web site are CrimeMapper and CrimeStats. These stats are based on police reports such as: an officer spoke to the victim of a crime and wrote a police report. The reports are classified as to type of crime (was it a robbery?; a burglary?) based on a national uniform crime reporting system developed by the FBI.
Not all calls to 9-1-1, however, turn out to be a crime or what is reported, turns out to be something else. For example, a report of shots fired may be fireworks.
